Electric Passenger Train
Written by Emma Norton
This is a song about trains and driving trains. Not just any trains, but Sydney's electric passenger trains.
LYRICS
CHORUS
It’s an electric passenger train coming down the track
Only two directions that’s forwards and then back
Always hear her coming yeah hear that whistle blow
She stops in every station with her passengers in tow
She wakes before the sun
Preps her engine in the yard
Breaks the silence with her whistle as the shunter waves her past
Takes it out the yard go nice and slow
She’s gotta get the passengers to where they wanna go.
CHORUS
The public never know her
Though she smiles at each and all
She smoothly stops the train so that no one has a fall
Thousands every day, shuffle to and fro.
She’s gotta get the passengers to where they wanna go.
CHORUS
She’s proudly, strongly union
Doesn’t listen to the lies
She knows that workers have no rights, unless they organise
She’ll strike for her class and make the bosses groan
She won’t get the passengers to where they wanna go.
CHORUS
It’s way past bedtime
Its quiet in the streets
Even engines need their rest so she puts hers to sleep
Through the night it gets cleaned and fixed and by the morn:
She’s gotta get the passengers to where they wanna go.
CHORUS x 2
