Welcome aboard Shanty Club!
We're a lively community who indulge in the rowdy joy of what many describe as 'group folk karaoke'.
Across inner Sydney, we bring people together in bars and on ships to stamp, clap, bellow, harmonise and regularly forget the words - keeping alive the age old tradition of communal folk singing.
Founded in 2014, Shanty Club is built on the belief that anyone can sing, they've just forgotten how. We find the snuggest spaces and bring people from all walks of life to connect through song in them. You don't have to sing the words, sing the tune, or even sing well. We just have to sing together.
