Toby's Holdin' On

Written by Josh Magee

LYRICS

00:00 / 01:04

CHORUS

Toby's holdin' on to a bigun

And Toby's holdin' on to me

If you let her go now oh you'll never live it down

So Toby don't give in to the sea

Old Toby, meek and grey

He hadn’t had a bite all day

Til up he jumps and up we say

PULL HARDER! PULL HARDER!

Well Toby’s bones all weak & thin

Did strain to pull the creature in

But not a soul were helpin’ him;

It's the code of fishermen

CHORUS

Argued the crew what it could be

A shark, a wrasse, a manatee

We all gathered round to see

PULL HARDER! PULL HARDER!

As Toby clung to my lapel

The vessel tipped in sudden swell

And o’er the balustrades he fell

With yours in tow as well

CHORUS

Me shoelace caught the anchorplate

And dangled us above the strait

I shouted down to Toby, mate

PULL HARDER! PULL HARDER!

Well never one to waste the bait

He wrestled like a magistrate

Til his thrashin’ loosed the anchor weight

And we tumbled to our fate

CHORUS

We plunged beneath the briny grey

And Toby’s catch was clear as day

I gurgled out to my dismay

PULL HARDER! PULL HARDER!

A creature known to all who sail;

It was the hallowed arctic whale!

With horn to make a rhino pale

The angler’s holy grail!

CHORUS

Well when she saw us at her back

The narwhal turned round to attack

I nearly shat me soggy dacks!

PULL HARDER! PULL HARDER!

But Toby knew just what to do

He blocked me from the whale’s harpoon

The narwhal’s tusk did run him through

And he sank into the blue
